VacuFlush trips Breaker

QR_BBPOST First, I would take those two clamps loose and inspect the hose underneath…………….. If it's possible to cut a small section on that hose and reattach it, then I would do that. You'd only have to cut and inch or two off, but that's what I'd try. Use a heat gun to soften the hose, both for removal and reassembly…………….

I used a heat gun as recommended and removed the hose, then cut 1/2” off (that’s all the slack I had), cleaned the inside of the hose with a Clorox handy wipe, heat gun again, and put the hose back on while it was still warm from the heat, tightened the clamps, and cycled the system a few times. When I left the boat, the vacuum had held for 40 minutes without cycling. When I go back to the boat in the morning I’ll see what happens when I turn the DC panel on. It’s not ever held for 40 min! So maybe this is fixed now!

Just to add....there is really no need for two clamps on this type of system. A good clamp properly installed is more than enough and to add, the improper installation of a second clamp can actually create trouble down the road ( leaks and hose damage ).

In fact when that hose is new, cools and shrinks onto the fitting it is extremely hard to remove without the clamp.

Put a Fork in this project - It’s DONE!!!

Got back to the boat this morning about 0830. The VacuFlush still had vacuum when I turned on the power. Pump didn’t run; therefore, it held vacuum from 1630 yesterday until this morning.

Here’s the culprit. The shaft on the vacuum pump planetary gear was scored causing it to bind and trip the breaker.
