455 Carver bilge blowers diesel engine

I have a 455 Carver 1998, two blowers have to be replaced out of 4.
Reading the different posts on the subject, diesels should draw air in ?
Both the working blowers are exhausting air, not bring air in. This is the way it was set up when I purchased the boat 14 years ago .
What is the correct way in or out ?

I think they're mostly to exhaust hot air (and maybe even some smells) from the compartment rather than to push air in. Forcing air in would also ultimately force that air into other areas in the boat.

Exhausting hot air after the engines shut down would also take a load off your HVAC systems.

The diesels should be able to suck in their air on their own. They have a LOT more power to move air than any electric blowers would, so as long as there are sufficient pathways for the air to travel, the diesels will breathe just fine.

Some applications have one or both of exhaust and circulating fans. Depends on your application. These are separate from the bilge blowers.
