port engine not starting

Post by Rayjs148 »

Hello, I have a Carver Santego 31 with twin 350 Crusader XL motors. The port engine stalled on our way back to marina and will not start. Engine turns over fine and can hear fuel pump running.
Observations: noticed when first turning ignition key the tachometer jumps up an down and the Engine Sync gauge will jump over to port side. Spark seen from ignition coil to dist cap, not always seeing a spark from dist cap to plugs.
replaced start relay, ignition coil ,dist cap, rotor and get the same results.any thoughts, thanks

Are you sure fuel is getting to the cylinders? Verify.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply, my observations suggest problem is ignition related as we do not see a spark from Dist cap to plugs but do see a spark form ignition coil to dist cap, just not sure where to go from there.

What year is your boat ? Is it points or does it have a module in the distributor ??
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
