I have had a few units over the years. The best unit IMHO is the Marin Aire, not to be confused with Marine Air. They use Toshiba compressors which are arguably the best out there. My last unit from them was an 14,000 btu which was whisper quiet. So quiet that you could look the compressor in the face while it switched on and you could not hear the compressor run, only a small click which was obviously the relay. It replaced a Flagship Marine 16,000 btu unit and honestly it put it to shame even though it was 2,000 btu smaller. I will most likely be replacing all the Marine Air units in my 41CMY with Marin Aire this winter as they are noisy and borderline when it comes to cooling capacity. http://www.marinaire.com
