Post Windlass power issues

My 2000 396 aft cabin has a problem retrieving the anchor. Although the Maxwell Freedom windlass operates when the switch is operated, it is necessary to assist the windlass with the handle in order to get the anchor onto the boat.

I replaced the solenoid pack at the recommendation of a Maxwell rep. The problem still exists. Any thoughts on a cause of this problem and/or a solution?

I have asked an electrician to take a look but he has not yet been able to get to the boat.

Thanks.

Post Cylinder Head Replacement

I have a 2000 356 Aft cabin with twin 7.4L Mercruiser gas inboard drives. The port engine needs a new, or rebuilt cylinder head. My mechanics are trying to source through Mercruiser, but tiiming keeps getting pushed out. Any ideas on other options to source a Mercruiser head?

Thanks,

Post 1998 405 dinghy

Anyone with this model have a dinghy on the swim platform? Looking for suggestions mostly in regards to max length, weight, etc. and your experiences. We do not have a dinghy yet but the boat currently has Weaver davits designed to flip the dinghy up on its side. Would prefer to get a dinghy and davits where you do not have to remove everything from the dinghy....motor, fuel tank, etc. Mounting the outboard and storing everything somewhere doesn't sound appealing. I understand weight is a major ...

Post Wanted Gauges for '76 era Mariner

For some reason all of my Port side gauges are either very inaccurate or not functioning. Tach will not drop to Zero no matter what, voltage always over reads etc. I've checked voltage at alt and battery and even at back of gauge so I'm confident it's gauge issues. I know it had the wrong voltage regulator on that engine when I got the boat so I'm thinking that's what fried them. If anyone has some they're willing to part with please let me know.
Thanks everyone

Post 1992 28 Sliding door fix

The sliding door of our 26/28 is literally a sliding door: aluminium on aluminium..... great because the door will never close by itself trapping a hand or fingers but pretty annoying to open and close in all other instances.

I remember seeing some pictures of the rollers at the bottom but can't seem to find them any more.

I'd like to know how to take the door apart and what to replace. Or perhaps a different solution that works instead of trying to find rollers as direct replacements.

Post Hello!

Good afternoon!
We just purchased our new to us 2000 530 voyager in Stuart, FL and are in delivery mode to St. Joe, MI. I have been lurking and gathering information and this forum seems to be the place. Hope I can contribute as much as I have benefitted. Have a few projects to do when we get back and then we are officially starting our loop in September. I have refitted a few other trawlers. Cheers everyone.
Mike

Post Lake levels

Well, John Buoy was launched last week! Yeah...maybe. As mentioned in an earlier post the lake levels are quite high. They are expecting it to rise another 8 inches. Water level is set to crest at the end of June. Hydro is currently turned off to the docks. Here is a comparison from last year to this year. Last year it was a small step up at the mid-ship point. This year it is a large step up to the swim platform. My rubber boats were too short so I had to put in some Glad "boot liners" ...

Post Faulty stern navigation light

We have a 1982 model 3007 Carver 30' aft cabin. Does the wire set (designated "P") go directly from connector #8 up in the flybridge to the stern nav light or does it take a detour and connect anywhere along the way?
Thanks,
Michael

Post Cat Whiskers starboard replaced

The cat whiskers on the starboard side windows was a total mess. Even had some weeds growing in it. SO, I went to Harbor Freight and got some picks and went at it. Pulling the old out was just a matter to technique. Except for a bone chilling stab to the left thumb, it was just pick and pull. Then cleaning out the channels for the new to sit. I was able to slide some in and pull from the other end to length and then push and pick until it was locked in place. The window drains were also plugged ...
