Post 1996 Voyager 320 - RPM & Planning Issues

Hi all,

New to the forum and will appreciate any help.

Purchased our Voyager several years ago and have always had issues with it getting up on plane.

Believe the engines are Cruisader 350 XL, 260 hp.

In 2020 blew the Starboard engine, reason was never determined (except it happened right after the carburator and timing was tuned by mechanic).

Decided to rebuild both engines because I didn't want an offset in the throttle. All went reasonably well, got up on plane for the 1st time ever - mechanic ...

Post Intro

hi,

It's been 25 years since I last participated in a board.

I hardly remember how this works.

I only just shook hands on the deal... I know I love her, she is 33' long, and her engines just leap to life.

I wore my Chris-Craft t-shirt to the meeting!.

I have now ordered a new Carver tee.

Do I need anything else?

So, my signature will include, as suggested, appropriate info as I gather it.

For instance, as a new Carver owner, I am not versed in model names.

Interestingly, the seller never mentioned one ...

Post TexDek, EVA, Foam Flooring

I have been looking at this, and wanted to know if anyone did it themselves? Also, I will be doing Flybridge and Aft deck, all covered. Material says it has a 5 to 7 year life span. Any comments? I would hate to install and have a mess removing it.

Post Dock line silencing

We spent a rough night aboard last night. Was pretty stormy. The only issue was the noise of the dock lines. Any ideas or solutions to silencing these? Should we use woven instead of braided? Something under them where it meets the fiberglass?

Thanks for the suggestions and the Admiral will also thank you,

Post Remove and replace old reading fixture

Hello Carver Lovers
I’m trying to replace my forward cabin light fixtures.
Where is the best place to cut off the old fixture?
Do I need to keep the “half round” piece intact or can it be removed as well.
Thanks
Penny

Post 30 amp or 50 amp cords - dumb question

So I have been using two thirty amp cords at my dock. I recently learned one of the cords is "burnt" at the female plug (according to my mechanic). The boat came with two 50 amp cords which I have never used. There is also a splitter, i.e., 50 amp female to two 30 amp male plugs. The marine has 50 amp power available.

Someone needs to explain to me whether I should buy another 30 amp cord (or just the female plug) or use the 50 amp cords and in what configuration.

Thanks.

Post Winch dismantling problem

So I finally got to the winch. It turns both ways so the motor and the gearbox are ok. What is not ok is that I could not lock the clutch, so the chain cannot be pulled by any force. I can turn the handle but as soon as it should clamp, it turns through that resistance and this goes on as much as you like.

The unit has been sitting there for years without any maintenance so I expected the removal of the top nut with the winch handle as my biggest challenge.

Had it soak in WD40 for a day or two ...

Post Volvo Penta 740 Big Block - noise and a knock

I have a 1990 Santego 2767. The motor is a Volvo Penta 740 Big Block (pic attached).
Anyway, we were having fuel issues for a month or so (stalling, etc.) and so after changing the fuel filter a couple of times, we decided to drain the tanks of dirty gas with black bits floating around, and fill them with fresh fuel.
With our new, clean gas, the boat was running better than ever. A lot less smoke, quiet (smoother), etc. Then, last week we went out and it was again going great, when suddenly it g ...
