Post My Middle Bass Island and Put In Bay Vacation

On Monday August 8th I headed out for a weeks vacation. My destinations were Middle Bass Island and Put In Bay both in the Lake Erie waters of Ohio. As with many trips my first stop was the fuel dock to top off my tanks. I pumped in $249 dollars of gas totaling just over 74 gallons of fuel.

The fuel price was down a bit from my previous trip a couple of weeks earlier. I departed the fuel dock at 10 AM headed down the channel and out onto Lake Erie.

I decided to try ...

Post Which Pump For The AC Unit

My 3007 has an after market reverse cycle AC/heat system installed. The unit is a 16000 BTU unit. Last week while on my vacation the water pump for the AC/heat unit died. What little information I have found online seems to lean towards a 500 GPH pump.

There are at least 2 choices for me. I can purchase and install a 250 GPH pump or a 500 GPH pump. I do not know what size is in there now as I have not had the chance to pull the old pump out. I kind of prefer to get the new one and then pull the o ...

Post Just closed today on our 1998 445 Aft Cabin

Our new-to-us 1998 Carver 445 Aft Cabin (gas Crusaders) is being transported to us next week, by the weekend it should be in our slip. Has a few mechanical things to fix and clean up, but it's in generally good condition and our detailing crew (my wife owns a boat detailing business) will be busy beavers making it sparkle!

Vol Navy, here we come!

Post 2000 Mariner 350 - Kohler Gen

I have a rebuilt Kohler 7.3E generator that will start up without issue, but will only run for 10 seconds and shut off. So far here are the things that have been done to it in the past 2 weeks and have not fixed the problem. Can anyone give me some ideas as to what I can try next? :help:

New fuel pump
new fuel lines
new fuel filter
new impeller
new sleeve

Post Throttle cable replacement '96 400

I have ordered the upper to lower throttle control cables and plan on replacing them next week. Has anyone here ever done this on a similar platform? Any pointers?

It doesn’t appear to be too difficult. I am able to put my eyes on most of the cable from point a to b. The tricky spot is going to be the riser and I’m hopeful that there are no inaccessible sections tie wrapped.

I am replacing the cables because the port side seems to be stretched and I have trouble getting the rpm down to an idle. I ...

Post 1994 Carver 310 Santego

We just purchased a 1994 Carver 310 Santego. The only other boat we've ever had was a fiberglass flat bottom John boat. Looking forward to meeting other Carver owners and getting tips on how to save money doing as much work as we can ourselves. We take it out of the water for bottom painting and service this weekend. Which will be nice because apparently when you buy a big boat (to me a big boat), you can't get it out of your mind and are subject to look at pictures online of other Carvers and n ...

Post A/C condensation in galley bilge

I own a 88 mariner 3297. I have noticed water in the bilge. I know it's coming from the a/c condensation. Is that normal or is there a drain line broken? Only jade the boat since July but love it.

Post spotlight

Hi all. I have a '94 390 that has a breaker on the DC panel for the spotlight, but my boat doesn't have a spotlight installed. Where is the normal location on this model and year for the spotlight to be mounted? Is it reasonable to assume that the wiring pigtail for the spotlight will be found in the area that spotlight is normally mounted (bow pulpit, flybridge)? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Post HELP 2000 Carver 350 Mariner Transmission Vibration

Hello all!

I am new to the forum, but excited to see if anyone can help me. :help:

I just bought a 2000 350 Mariner and after one week I found a really bad vibration coming from the port side while underway over 2500 RPM. Anything below 2500 RPM is smooth as silk. I brought her to the ship yard to be hauled out for a quick check of the props and drive lines. After inspection, the props are good, drive lines are straight, cutlass bearings good, but found play in the port side gear when turnin ...
