Post Distressing news Marquis/Carver

Unfortunately, Marquis/Carver has announced a temporary shut down of operations, effective March 1. The company has been for sale after the passing of previous owner. There was a sale in progress but that buyer pulled out at the last minute. Search for buyer continues. 344 employees are impacted, but it is anticipated this shut down is temporary and short. It may not happen at all if a new buyer enters the transaction soon. First, let's cross fingers, send prayers and hope something positive h ...

Post what oil to use?

Needing input on what oil to use. We have an 1987 3607 with Merc gas engines with 340 hp which have about 1600 hours on them. We have only had this boat for a year. The previous owner had the boat for 7 years and in his last year he used a high mileage Mobile one auto oil for the yearly oil change. I used a diesel and gas marine grade oil, 15- 30 weight I believe . I have thought for years that using a synthetic oil in older engines could lead to oil leaks. What would you recommend we use? Com ...

Post Diesel smell

And here I go...first night on the boat last night, wanted the full experience. When I first came on board I notice some residual diesel aroma. I opened some windows but there was no breeze, so it took a while for it to go away. Never fully went away.

I found a topic on this forum where people have had leaking aux tanks, etc. I did not see any leaks nor did the survey pick up any fuel leaks. When we did the sea trial I noticed a bit of the smell but I also dont know how long the boat was sit ...

Post Shore Power

Okay, it is now the end of January and the temp where I live is currently -6 below Celsius. Unlike our friends to the south, my boat is frozen and surrounded by snow. This is the time of year that we sit and identify new projects that await us in the hope that spring and splash day are soon to be a reality.

I just returned from Sunny Isles, Florida, where we hung out with a buddy who has unlimited access to a brand new 60 foot Azimut. Had a great time and it was nice to warm the soul with 25 d ...

Post Chart plotter Update?

When we purchased our Carver it came with a Standard Horizon CP500 chartplotter.

The card thats in it works just fine for the local lakes I usually boat on but this fall we will be heading down the ICW to the Bahamas.

I would like a card(S) that will give the the most recent info for those areas.

However I seem to be having a hard time even finding somewhere to purchase new or updated cards. Are they obsolete??

The S.H. website is of no use at all unless you want a manual.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Post Shifter/Throttles

Hello,

On my 2004 360 Sedan, the soft "grippy rubber" handles on my "carver" named shifters are all cracked up from the sun over the years. Any replacement handles/levers or suggestions? I suppose they are teleflex or morse, but private labeled for Carver.... Also, my red plastic "push in" buttons to allow revving the engine in neutral are broken. Any replacement for them? IN the Carver online parts lists, I don't see the shifter mentioned by part number, and even if it was, it would be a Ca ...

Post Want to buy a CPMY either 390,400,404 or 430

Hey all I am looking for a CPMY. I have not decided on the model I think I can make any of them work for my needs. I am on lake Superior in Minnesota so I would like to find one on the great lakes. I would prefer diesel rather than gas. I am hoping to do some extend cruising and fishing in my retirement and live on the boat during the summer months. Trolling, dependability and turn key are important. Also reasonably lower hours would be Ideal.

Post 370 Voyager anchor fit

The Bruce 12 kg anchor our 370 came with is too small and the fit is bad as well as the flukes hit the underside of the pulpit on retrieval. So I would like to upgrade to a new age anchor with a flatter profile. The 2 I have considered are the Manson Boss 45 lb and the Rocna Vulcan 44 lb. I was told by another 370 owner that he has a Boss 45 and the shank was too thick and required pulpit mods to accommodate. Leaving the Vulcan, so has anyone installed a 20 kg, 44 lb Vulcan on a Voyager 370?? ...
