Post Webcam at dock?

Hi all, does anyone currently use a personal webcam to keep an eye on their boat? I know some Marina's have them, but I was thinking of putting my own right at the dock. Looking for some pros and cons from people who have them already. Also any information on specific brands/models you use. Where did you mount it? is it wireless? How strong of a Wifi does it take to get a good signal.

Thanks in advance!

Post Control cables

I need to purchase a control cable for a 1986 Carver 2667. Does any one know the lengths or cable number (on cable). I need the fly bridge shift cable but can't get to the boat until spring and don't want to start the summer with a delivery wait at the marina. There also may be a cable page in the 2667 Parts manual. Thanks Edward

Post New to town

Hi all, I already posted in the cruising section so guess I jumped the gun!

Recently became a used Carver owner. 1985 2987 Monterey. I bought the boat pretty cheap down in Florida and brought it back to the gulf coast of AL. Many lessons learned along the way. I will be posting in the project section w/ some of the blister repair work I did on the boat. Boat has the original motors but both seem solid w. good compression. First twin boat we have owned. Previous was 26' Sea Ray single I/O.

Looking ...

Post Kohler generator overheat after coolant replacement.

I recently changed my impellar on my Kohler 10 EOZD genset with Yanmar engine. I also changed the coolant hoses and cleaned out heat exchanger. I ended up with an overheat auto shut down after 7 minutes. After much internet surfing I decided to try burbing air bubble out of coolant side. I had use the boat previous day without genset and when I removed coolant cap today the coolant level had gone down signifigantly. I topped it off and proceeded to run engine for an hour with out overheat ...

Post Prop Size Dilemma?

All,

Pulled the props on our 1998 350 Mariner. Prop shop clean and scanned and told me that I could get another year or so

out of them after a tune-up. However, due to age and that they are brass, should not expect much more life out of them.

They were concerned about the props and boat configuration. Current props are 4 blade, 20 x 23. Boat has twin 350 MAGs MPI at 300 HP. with V-Drive 1.5:1 ratio. They tell me that the "number" crunching suggests that we should use 4 blade, 20 x 21. They c ...

Post Non-Skid Replacement

I have a 1981 3007 aft cabin which we have been repairing for the last couple of years. It is coming along well and we are now at the stage of redoing the non skid on the aft deck and the fly bridge.

Last season, I scraped off all the existing non-skid and took every thing back to the gel coat. Then painted with an oil base, exterior grade industrial paint, recommended by a local repair guy. We then added non-slip crystals to the paint and rolled on a second coat.

Long story short, the resulting ...

Post 2017 How Much Have You Spent On Your Boat Year To Date

I tracked my boating expenses last year. I had never tracked boating related expenses before. It was somewhat interesting to see what I spent on my hobby. Last year I was somewhat limited by my daughters wedding expenses. Hopefully this year I will have more boat bucks to spend on fuel and I can go to a few more places. Hope there are no further repairs but it is a 36 year old boat so we'll see.

I'm going to try it again this year. I am already half way to my last years total and I am about 60 da ...

Post transducers

I bought a 1985 carver 3227 convertible, some one stole the depth finder cut the transducer cable. Can anyone tell me what came with the boat that fits these transducers. I don't need anything but a depth finder on lake. Does not have lower helm but the boat has two thru hull transducers. I assume one is for the bridge and one for the lower if you had one. I would like to know what came on the boat so i can attempt to find the OEM unit or find a replacement with out having to put new transducer ...
