Post Battery configuration

This is my first summer with our 2001 350 mariner. We have the standard configuration 2 batteries for house and engines and 1 for the genny. This configuration does not seem able to keep the fridge running at anchor. I have surmised that the battery protection kicks in and shuts the fridge down after which the batteries still have lots of umph to start the engines. I would appreciate hearing what configurations other use: number of batteries, 6v vs. 12v etc. etc. Thank you Fraser

Post Carver 440 exhaust problem

I have Cummins 475 hp engines. The exhaust is terminated through 45 degree elbows at the transom and out past the swim platform. My probelm is a tremendous amount of sooting that is accumulating both over my dinghy mounted at the rear of the swim platform and all over the stern of the boat. Has anyone ever tried extending the exhaust pipes to the rear edge of the swim platform to stop this. The engines are in tune with no issues. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Post 2000 Carver 406 Aft Cabin

Just picked up my Carver 406 Aft Cabin last weekend and so far am really enjoying it. I traded up from a 1997 Sea Ray 400 Sundancer and we are really enjoying the extra comforts and roominess of the Carver. I would be very interested in communicating with other 406 owners to talk about their experiences with their own boats. Happy boating! Dave
