Post 455 Bunk Bed supports
- Posted by: KnotSure » November 14th, 2021, 12:51 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
So among the many things I've discovered in my first month of ownership is that when the previous owner redid the flooring he evidently removed/covered the receivers for the poles to hold up the upper bunk in the 3rd cabin. Does anyone have any pictures of what it SHOULD look like?

Post Navigation equipment supplier recommendations
- Posted by: V12diablo » November 13th, 2021, 8:47 pm
- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
After our first season with our 356, I would like to update all my navigation equipment/electronics. I have all the old ray marine equipment that is inoperable or has burnt screens. I also want to add a autopilot since the boat doesn’t currently have one. I am looking for a supplier that will explain what equipment I need and works well with each other. Not just sell me stuff I may not need for my type of boating. Thanks, in advance.

I just purchased a 2005 56 voyager. It is going into storage for the winter and the spot only has 30 amp power. I tried a 30 amp 125 to 50 amp 125/250 adapter with no luck. What do I need

Post 406 won’t get to speed

- Forum: Introduce Yourself!
Hi everyone. Hopefully someone has some ideas here:
Bought a 2001 Carver 406 with Cummins 330’s last April. She was exceptionally well maintained, and the 2 surveyors who inspected her were highly qualified with one specializing in Cummins. She was documented at achieving 19 knots at 2600 WOT and 17 at 2400 cruise with 3 full tanks and 4 adults aboard. Due to other stuff going on, we were not able to take her out for about 2 months at which time she could only make 12 knots at a little over 2000 ...

The used boat I purchased never had a windlass. Is there enough room in the chain locker to mount a vertical windlass, or should it be a horizontal windlass? I want to use all chain. Thank you.

Post 2000 396 Aft Cabin - drainage of aft shelves
- Posted by: tgebler » November 9th, 2021, 9:48 am
- Forum: The Project Center
I have two shelves (at least that is what I will call them) between the cockpit and the swim platform. They are used to embark when tied up to a high pier. See photo where I am standing on "shelf".
Unfortunately, they both retain a puddle of water after a rain or washing because there is no drain. Is it possible to install a drain and if so, how should it be done. I assume some other 396 owners have confronted this issue. Thanks.
